How to Make Honey Garlic Chicken

Here is a recipe from a member of the Smoked and Cured Team, Brigitta. This recipe uses our Misty Gully Hickory Honey to give it a smokey, sweet flavour. It’s really quick and simple to make, perfect for weeknight dinners. You can also use tofu instead of chicken for a vegetarian/vegan alternative.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 cup chopped carrot
  • 2 cups chopped broccoli
  • 500g skinless chicken
  • 5 cloves garlic
  • 1/4 cup chicken or vegetable stock
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp Misty Gully Smoked Hickory Honey
  • 2 tsp corn flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

  1. Heat oil in a pan on medium heat
  2. Cook the carrot and broccoli until tender. Remove and cover to keep warm.
  3. Add chicken to the pan. Season with salt and pepper. Cook on each side until brown and cooked through.
  4. Add garlic and cook until fragrant.
  5. Add carrot and broccoli back into the pan and stir together.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together stock, soy sauce and hickory honey.
  7. Pour mixture into pan and cook for 30 seconds.
  8. In another bowl, mix corn flour with 1 tbsp of cold water. Add to pan and cook until thickened.
  9. Serve over rice.
