Everyone needs a good smokey BBQ sauce in their life! Making your own at home means you get to tweak it to your taste and play around with the flavours you enjoy. This recipe combines Bundy rum, our Misty Gully Hickory Honey and Outback Campfire Liquid Smoke, for a perfect sweet and smokey flavour.

Ingredients 

1L (4 cups) tomato sauce
6 tbsp Brown Sugar
½ cup Apple Cider Vinegar
¼ cup Dark Molasses
¼ cup Misty Gully Hickory Honey
¼ cup Worcestershire Sauce
2 tbsp Bundy Rum

2 tbsp Yellow Mustard
1 tbsp Misty Gully Outback Campfire Liquid Smoke
1 tbsp Chipotle Chilli Powder
2 tsp Ground Black Pepper
2 tsp Garlic Powder
1 tsp Ground Allspice
¼ tsp Ground Cloves
1 Bay Leaf
4 cups Tomato Sauce
Kosher Salt to taste

Method
1) Use a large saucepan over medium heat. Mix together tomato sauce, vinegar, rum, mustard, brown sugar, molasses, honey, worcestershire sauce and Misty Gully Outback Campfire liquid smoke.
2) Once heated, stir in the rest of the ingredients and simmer on low heat for 20m.
3) Remove the bay leaf and add kosher salt and pepper to taste.
4) Note: For thicker sauce just simmer longer, for thinner sauce, simmer less or add water. You can enjoy this sauce as a condiment to any meal, or baste your barbecue for competition grade flavour! Mmmmm Mmmm 🙂
