Coming from the same plant as Nutmeg, Mace is a thin lacy layering that surround the nutmeg whilst in the fruit shell. The warm, spicy flavouring is similar, but milder then that of Nutmeg, and often the preferred ingredient in salami making and used in pickling mixes for curing meats.
